How to get to Alcalá de Henares

By Train

Starting at Barajas airport, Madrid, you can take the underground (‘metro’) to Nuevos Ministerios station.
From there, you can catch a suburban train service (Cercanías). There are three train services to Alcalá. The journey lasts 45 minutes and trains leave Nuevos Ministerios station every ten minutes or less.
Alcalá can also be reached from Chamartín and Atocha train station. Trains start running at 5:00 am from Charmartin Station. The last train leaves Chamartín station at 11:36 pm.

Trains start running at 5:14 am from Atocha. The last train leaves Atocha station at 11:50 pm.
In the opposite direction, trains from Alcalá to Madrid start running at 5:09 am, with the last train leaving at 11:26 pm.

By Bus

Buses leave from the Avenida de América bus station. Take bus service no. 223, 227 and 229. Buses leave about every 10 minutes, although there are less buses at night. The journey takes around 30-35 minutes (depending on traffic conditions).

By Car

Take the N-II road in the direction of Zaragoza and Barcelona. If traffic conditions are good, it should take you 25 minutes to reach Alcalá (30 kilometres from Madrid). There are a number of exits which take you into the city, but the easiest route taking you directly to the city centre is via the first exit, signposted Loeches-Alcalá.

Once you have found your way to Alcalá de Henares, you should go to the Guest Reception Point (Oficina de Recepción de Invitados), where you can register and pick up your passes and other documents:
